  • If using GPS:
    • A GPS device that is compatible with the Windows Sensor And Location Platform, or:
    • A GPS device that outputs NMEA sentences over a serial port (USB or otherwise), or:
    • A GPS device that outputs NMEA sentences over UDP.
  • If using OBD-II:
    • An OBD-II device that uses ELM327 and is compatible with Windows.

Sofware installation

  1. Log in to the Blank-it portal.
  2. Navigate to the Downloads tab and download the desired software version (v7.0+).
  3. Run the installer (blank-it-7.xx.xxxxx.msi).
  4. Accept the End User License Agreement and press the 'Install' button.
  5. Authorize Blank-it to install software on your PC by clicking 'Yes' on the first User Account Control elevation dialog (if it appears).
  6. Click on the 'Finish' button.

Hardware installation (GPS)

Mount the external antenna (if one exists) in a location where it can receive GPS signals without interference. Connect the GPS device to the PC.

Hardware installation (OBD-II)

Connect the OBD-II sensor to the vehicle's OBD-II port, as described in the Vehicle's instruction manual and the OBD-II device's instruction manual. Connect the OBD-II sensor to the PC as described in the OBD-II device's instruction manual.

Hardware installation (USB motion sensor)

Mount the USB motion sensor in a stable and secure location in your vehicle, and then run a USB extension cable to connect it to the in-vehicle PC.

USB Motion Sensor override cable

The BL-205 model is designed to accommodate signal override via the addition of the click-in cable and a switch. The override option allows full access to the computer when the cable is shorted (switch in closed position). No power is required to the switch.

  • Switch in the open position allows Blank-it to function normally, preventing or limiting access while the vehicle is in motion.
  • Switch in the closed position overrides the Blank-it signal, allowing the screen to be viewed regardless of the vehicle's current state of motion.

Post-installation steps

Once the Blank-it software has been installed, the software license needs to be activated and then the software needs to be configured. Please refer to the licensing and configuration sections of this manual for further instructions.
