Configuration

This section provides information on how to configure the Blank-it software.

Building a configuration

Blank-it is configured via the online Blank-it Portal.

To create a new configuration, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the Blank-it Portal (opens in a new tab).
  2. Navigate to the Windows (v6) configuration page (opens in a new tab) by clicking 'Configuration' and then 'Blank-it Windows (v6)'.
  3. Click the 'Create a new configuration' button down the bottom of the page.

Once you have followed the above steps, your configuration has been created. From there, you should carefully read through the various configuration options, and set them as desired.

Once you've set all of the configuration options to your desired values, you can click 'Save Changes' to save your configuration. It will be securely stored in the Blank-it Portal, accessible to members of your organization.

Download a configuration file

Once a configuration has been created, it can be downloaded to your PC and loaded into Blank-it.

  1. Sign in to the Blank-it Portal (opens in a new tab).
  2. Navigate to the Windows (v6) configuration page (opens in a new tab) by clicking 'Configuration' and then 'Blank-it Windows (v6)'.
  3. Choose the configuration you wish to download, and then click the associated 'Download' button.
  4. Save the configuration file to your desired location.

Applying the configuration file

Once a configuration file has been created and downloaded, the Blank-it software needs to be told to use that specific configuration file. This is as simple as copying the downloaded configuration file (config.bl6) into the Blank-it configuration file directory (C:\ProgramData\Blank-it). Overwrite the existing file if one exists. Restart Blank-it to apply the configuration changes.
